The National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) was introduced in 2013 through a Cabinet notification, as a single unified framework for all qualifications. It is a nationally integrated education and competency based framework that enables persons to acquire desired competency levels, transit to the job market and, at an opportune time, return for acquiring additional skills to further upgrade their competencies. It is operationalised through the National Skills Qualification Committee (NSQC), chaired by Chairman, NSDA.
National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) which anchors the NSQF, has been receiving proposals for alignment of qualifications to the NSQF, from various awarding bodies, scrutinizing and presenting them for NSQC approval. In an effort to formalise this process NSDA proposes to introduce a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), laying down timelines for the various steps involved in the same. Going forward the SOP will be adhered to for scrutinising all qualifications summited for alignment to the NSQF.
